Personal and Education Background
Michael R. Delafield was born and raised in Portland, Maine. He received in B.A. from Princeton University in 1993, and his J.D. from the University of Maine in 1999. During law school, he served for two years as a member of law review.
Mr. Delafield joined Schwartz & Shaw in 2002 and practices exclusively education law, with an emphasis on litigation and construction issues in education law.
Mr. Delafield is a member of the North Carolina Council of School Attorneys and the National Council of School Attorneys. He serves as Co-Chair of the CLE Planning Committee of the Education Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association.
Mr. Delafield is married to Aria Chernik.
